Northern Spain is green, cool in summer and quietly obsessed with food. It's where Seve Ballesteros learned to play, on the beach next to his home course in Cantabria.
This is the trip for groups who care as much about dinner as about the scorecard. We combine courses in Cantabria and the Basque Country with San Sebastián, Bilbao and a day in Rioja.
On the course
Pedreña, Cantabria
Seve Ballesteros' home club, on a peninsula over the bay of Santander. A must for any golfer who grew up watching him.
San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria
Designed by Seve himself, between the sea and the Picos de Europa mountains.
Hondarribia, Basque Country
A historic club on the slopes of Mount Jaizkibel, a short drive from San Sebastián.
Cirueña, La Rioja
A course in the middle of wine country, perfect for a round followed by a winery visit.

When to go
May to September is the best period, with comfortable temperatures when the south of Spain is very hot.
Spring and autumn can be rainy, which is why everything is so green. Winter is cool and wet, so we don't recommend it for golf.
How long
A typical trip is 4 to 5 nights with 3 rounds, because distances between Cantabria, the Basque Country and Rioja are longer.
Groups often split the stay between San Sebastián and a wine hotel in Rioja.
Beyond the golf
A route through the old town bars, and a Michelin starred dinner if the group wants it.

Yes, Real Golf de Pedreña in Cantabria accepts visitors on certain days, subject to availability. We request tee times for the group when we confirm the dates.
The best time is from May to September, when the weather is mild and dry enough for golf. Winter is cool and rainy.
Bilbao (BIO) has the most international flights, and Santander (SDR) is closest to the Cantabrian courses. Some groups fly into one and out of the other.
Yes, it's one of the most popular add-ons in northern Spain. Rioja is about an hour and a half from Bilbao, and we can include a round at a course in wine country.
